English Version/Erika Asai – Pianist & Composer
Based in Hokkaido, Japan
Introduction
Hello, I’m Erika Asai.
I compose music with a theme of gentleness and heartwarming calm.
It brings me great joy to know that people around the world are listening to my music.
My Musical Journey
I started with piano and Electone in childhood.
After years of performing and teaching, I followed the path I always longed for—composition.
I cherish the “everyday” and “emotions,” and create music that paints those atmospheres through piano.
Things I Love
Reading, walking with my dog, visiting museums and libraries,
filming and editing photos and videos, exploring cafés, and traveling.

What I Value
Empathy—caring for others as if they were myself.
A spirit of curiosity and trying new things.
Appreciating nature and the objects that surround us.
Sports
I enjoy physical activity.
I used to snowboard and ski, but stopped due to injury risks.
Now, I maintain a flexible and stable body with a mix of strength training, stretching, and cardio.
Favorite Foods
Sushi (scallops, surf clams, whelks), crab rice,
fresh cream puffs, chocolate, and hamburg steak.
What I Want to Try
Someday, I’d love to live in a different region.
I dream of creating a cozy “secret salon” where gentle, mature people gather—
sharing tea, books, music, and hosting small live performances. (Online is fine too.)
I also hope to publish a book someday.
Things I Struggle With
Crowds, loud sounds, drunken behavior (and the assumption that being drunk excuses it),
TV noise, and machines—I’m terribly bad with technology.
Even as a musician, I dislike loud volumes.
In Closing
Thank you for reading to the end.
I feel incredibly lucky to have made composition my profession, and I enjoy each day.
Though I face challenges, I’ve come to appreciate them too.
I will continue to create music that gently softens the heart and body.
Please keep supporting me warmly.
In my blog, I sometimes share slightly academic content as well.
If you ever have questions, feel free to send me a message.
Even a simple “I listened to your song!” makes my day.
Your comments are what keep this blog going.
Thank you again for visiting.
